LETTER #27 . . . Baptism and haircut on Calbuco!

Hello family and friends! 

 SOY CALBUCANO. Calbuco is pretty and it's super warm here! I MISS YOU GUYS!
This week we had a super cool experience . . my comp had the opportunity to baptize this little 9 year old boy named Santiago (he wanted a professional soccer player to baptize him) and right before the baptism we went outside to take pictures while he was all dressed up in his white baptism clothes and somehow we started to play a game of soccer in the grass in front of the church and the sun was going down and i looked at this kid just so happy dressed in all white kicking this soccer ball and i felt this overwhelming peace about being in the mission. It's weird, random little experiences like this one that make the mission soso worth it! 

Also i hit 6 months this week which is super duper crazy. They say that you feel good with the language at 6 months and i still don't really know what "good with the language" means but i do feel confident enough to have conversations with people! I had a talk in sacrament meeting about prayer and i didn't even end up looking at the talk i wrote and all the words i wanted to say just came to my head which was super cool! I am nowhere near fluent with Spanish but it is nice to be able to talk!

Me and my comp work in super different ways which has been difficult at times to figure out out but i am learning so much!! ALSO I GUESS MY COMP OWNS BARBER SHOPS IN BRAZIL SO I LET HIM CUT MY HAIR WOOHOO! 

What i have been saying from the beginning of my mission but am only now really realizing is that the mission is not all about me! All of the hard times and all of the times i feel stressed or rejected are the times that technically "i am standing shoulder to shoulder with Christ" and i need to remember that i have been called as a literal representative of Jesus Christ and that i am not here for my own personal success or learning.

Also this week i read a cool quote that made me really happy from President Hinckley. "We are products to the elements in which we are exposed to" (i read it in the book Mike and Jennie sent!!!) And i like this quote so much because i read and read and study all day but do not feel like i am learning or absorbing as much as i should be but i realized that everything i put into my mind becomes a part of who i am regardless of how well i remember it! The most important thing are the books in that we are reading from and the people and things we are surrounding ourselves with and not so much how much we are learning or remembering necessarily!

I love you all! Sorry, i sent an email last week but it must not have sent! Miss you all! Pray hard, study lots and remember that we all have room to improve or get better!!! SER UN POCO MEJOR QUE AYER!!!!!!!!! ps spanish is cool psps. what are good healthy things to eat on the mission!?



EXCERPTS FROM FAMILY LETTER - 
HELLO SORRY YOU DIDN'T GET MY EMAIL LAST WEEK! I PROMISE I WROTE AND SENT ONE HAHA. Also sorry that you still haven't gotten my letter for your birthday, Mom! A guy that was going to Utah and was literally going to put the letter in our mailbox ended up getting deported back to Chile from the states haha and now im writing him trying to get him to put the letter in the mail!

Calbuco is one of the bigger sectors in the mission and it's super stressful because there are so many houses and so many less actives but living over such a huge area. We have to drive in a bus close to an hour sometimes to go to lunch!!!! The rama (branch) in calbuco is like 20 people which is pretty small but there is a lot of opportunity for work here!!! 

Tell dad that i have showed his hope works video to like 10 missionaries and a couple members that speak english! I wish there was a translation!

Thats crazy about the snow out!! THAT NEVER HAPPENED WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL I FEEL LIKE!!! I miss snow weirdly.

I need to go but thank you mom for writing me such good letters and sending me pictures! I look forward to it every week! Can you easily get the pictures that i send through wifi?? I will send my pictures through wifi this week! Love you guys!! TELL THE FAM I LOVE THEM AND MISS THEM. Read scrips and pray!!

LETTER #19 . . . new comp and new investigators!!

Hello friends and family!  Miss u tons!!! This week i got a new companion and we started working super hard from the very first minute together! His name is Elder Arnett and he is from Arizona. i think it's kinda weird to be able to have normal conversation with someone throughout the day in my native language. I hope i'm not forgetting how to talk to people haha. This week we found and taught 11 new investigators in 3 days which are crazy numbers in Gamboa!! I think a couple of these people have totally been prepared for us and will get baptized! I have learned this week that if you want success that you have to face twice as much rejection. This week more than any other time in my mission i have seen so many doors slammed but also we met so many people ready for our message! Lesson= work hard + face rejection= success!!! LETTER #15 . . . HELLO Y'ALL!

Hi Y'All! This week i was getting my haircut with a cool member and I let him taze me with this cool police taser and my bum hurt the whole haircut so that was cool! :/  The weather is starting to get a little bit warmer which is so cool but it's still cold and rains just about every day haha!  I think it's hard for me to learn Spanish because i am trying to learn Chilean Spanish from a comp that's from Ecuador that mixes in Creole and English and Ecuador slang in his sentences haha but i am figuring it out and my Spanish really is SLOWLY getting better!  This week was really happy and the work is getting a little bit better because I am making my comp walk instead of taking taxis everywhere and we have been meeting so many people!! We try to go somewhere cool every pday but it's always bad weather but hopefully soon i will have cool pictures to show you guys!!!  I sometimes wake up and work out and just start reading scriptures for a couple hour...

LETTER #6 . . . last letter from Mexico MTC . . GOODBYE MTC!

Hello everyone!  Goodbye to the MTC and to this awesome district!   I miss you all and hope everyone is happy and healthy! The MTC is so humbling and has helped me so much to become disciplined but also i am going crazy just sitting here all day!! I check into recepcion to leave this place at 3am Monday morning and have an 8 hour flight to Santiago. When we get to Santiago we have a 21 hour layover and i think will be sleeping in a hotel. After the layover we have a 1-2 hour flight to Osorno and i am not really sure what happens after that but i will keep you all updated.  Bobo with Anne and John Pingree from the Seventy . . . guest speakers at their devotional! This week was by far one of the most boring weeks but i seriously still loved it so much and i am learning so much!
