LETTER #11 . . . YOU ARE AS HAPPY AS YOU THINK YOU ARE!

Image
Hello all, i miss you all very much and am constantly just playing back stories with you all in my head and just laughing so hard. i know that my comp thinks im the biggest weirdo but it's ok!  October, 2018 Saturday night super late my comp told me that i was speaking in sacrament which was awesome haha. i spoke about prayer and how big a part of my life it has become and no matter what we are going through (challenges, problems, hard times, or you just need someone to talk to) that we can always turn to prayer (Alma 37:37)!  This week all the branches from all of the Island of Chiloe came together and all represented countries in the world and had a big culture festival which was super coo. One of the Branch's "countries" was Hawaii?? IDK if they think Hawaii is a country or not but regardless I had a good laugh.  We had our part in our first Baptism this week which was soso awesome and even though he wasn't directly our investigator and it was kind of...

LETTER #10 . . . Concepcion temple and miracles!

Hi All, Sometimes I feel like I am getting used to the mission but then we will have a super off day and I feel like I didn't learn a ton and I start to get super stressed but its kinda funny cause the only time the stress goes away is when I forget about myself and stop taking my own temperature!  A little peak inside the life of a Chilean This week i was kinda praying for a miracle because we had a couple off days. One day as my comp and I were walking to get into a taxi both with hands full of Book of Mormons I sat down in the taxi (that was blasting the song "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5) and dropped the books all over the driver and he just laughed and helped me pick them up and jokingly said gracias and took a book and me and my comp talked with him for a couple minutes and he said he had always had questions about this church!!! We now have a new investigador and I now have a new favorite song!  View from a member's house I feel like although t...

LETTER #9 . . . I'm an adult, I sewed a button! (General Conference)

Hello all, I hope you all know i miss you all very much and i just think of stories from home and just start laughing and i can't explain why i'm laughing to my comp because we don't speak the same language which makes me laugh even harder! (The point of this story was so that you know i am thinking about all of you haha)!!  This week i became an official adult and sewed 2 buttons and a pair of pants!! It was a small accomplishment in the grand scheme of things but i was very happy. Although it can be super lonely out here and i still think of home tons, i have had some super cool experiences  and i am learning so much. This week, in my broken Spanish, i invited 2 people to be baptized which was super cool and super scary but such a testimony builder and they said they'd pray about it! Also we have been teaching a lot of Haitians and it's so cool because they all believe in God but none of them are part of a religion so they are very receptive.  This w...

LETTER #8 . . . cold, rainy, a bit lonely, but mission life is good!

Image
Hello all i miss you all tons!  September 26th, 2018 It is soso cold here and rains all day long and even snows a little bit which is crazy!!  I forgot to say this in my last letter but i am supposed to start learning the Creole language when i hit 6 months because there are so many Haitians here and it is such a crazy language! I am struggling to learn a second language so even considering a third language seems scary (pray for me!!).  Chiloe is superduper pretty and i didn't give it enough credit in my first email but seriously I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here!!  I have come to find that the people here only listen to American music and its for the most part like heavy rap or super overplayed radio songs but regardless i am grateful because it gives my day background music!   This week was super cool and a super big learning week for me and i am so grateful!  The mission has definitely at times been a huge pat...
