LETTER #3 from the Mexico MTC!

Here are some small excerpts from the letter he sent to the family . . . 

BEDNAR COMES TODAY!!! Its cool cause all the MTC's in the whole world listened to a live broadcast from Provo and it was Christofferson so we get to hear from two apostles in 4 days! 
Yes i have gotten two packages with cheetos and jelly beans and powerades. If those packages are expensive to send then you really don't need to (but i do appreciate the packages a lot and it makes days go by a lot faster. I love the Powerades!) If you ever need to tell me something or there is something that happens send me a letter because it is cool to read stuff and to feel like a normal human being during the week. 

Things have been going pretty good and my Spanish is much better as compared to when i first got here but i still feel so awful at Spanish haha.

I have been trying to eat super balanced meals with a lot of fruit and vegetables but really i have eaten a ton of yogurt and granola and a lot of frosted flakes and a ton of watermelon and pineapple because i'm not a huge fan of rice, beans, and mystery meat for every meal haha. Also our district prays every day before lunch that we are going to have cheeseburgers haha. The best part of every day is after we have taught our investigators we get to go eat dinner and study the Book of Mormon and then go back to our houses and it is very therapeutic to just go relax after 16 hour days of classes. 

My district is super awesome with a ton of super different personalities but we all get a long superduper good and sometimes we can be out of control and also sometimes the spirit is so strong with them. We have 2 hermanas in our district in the district. Whenever you are talking to a hermana everyone waves their tie at you which means stop flirting with the sisters haha. That can get a little annoying but it is very funny. 

Sorry, i still am trying to figure out this whole email thing and i feel like my mind is so jumbled every time i do this.(should i write you guys with bullet points?)  How is the family doing? What did Spencer say about the hello assembly? Please send me pictures when you have the chance!  

One of my best friends out here is Elder Taylor and he is from a small town next to Salina, Utah and i genuinely think we will forever stay friends. I love this gospel and if you guys have the chance you should go listen to the general conference talk of Holland bearing his testimony of the Book Of Mormon because it is so cool. 

Keep reading scriptures and praying as a family and also to Mom and Dad, you guys should start writing in your journals again and yes i have written a page every night so far! When you guys are in town you should get all the siblings to write a couple lines so that i can kinda talk to them individually. I love you guys! TE AMOOOO!


And letter to everybody . . . 
Hi All,

This week has gone so very fast. Yesterday we were doing a service project around the comedor (cafeteria) and me and Elder Taylor and Elder Bingham were put in charge of 5 latinos and a couple other kids to get them to sweep all of the sidewalks surrounding the comedor.  After about 20 minutes of sweeping me and Elder Taylor joked about getting the latinos to start sweeping the grass so we started yelling VAMOS AQI and pointing to the grass and after doing this for about 5 minutes they finally came over to where we were. Here we were in the middle of Mexico City wearing hair nets that we got from the cafeteria, sweeping the grass with a bunch of kids that didn't speak a word of english haha. IDK if that made any sense but it was one of the funniest things that has happened to me out here.

Me and my district joined the MTC choir and i think it is so cool. There is such a cool spirit about singing hymns with hundreds of other missionaries. Also Elder Christofferson spoke in a live broadcast to all the MTCs a couple days ago and today Elder Bednar is at the Mexico MTC!!! Which means i get to hear from 2 apostles in 4 days!!! 

I want you all to know how much i care for you all and how i truly do care about you guys so much. Pray and read the scriptures and WRITE IN A JOURNAL NO MATTER HOW BORING YOU THINK YOUR LIFE IS. 

A few more funny things. I dared my companion to take a melatonin in the middle of the day and he was going in and out of sleep all day, and we had a cheeseburger eating contest and this kid in my district just laid there throwing up as he was laughing after, and that was gross but funny haha.

The church is so very true and although it is hard for me to teach people i feel like i am growing and humbling so much as i do it. You guys are the best and i will have more time to write you all next week.

LETTER #19 . . . new comp and new investigators!!

Hello friends and family!  Miss u tons!!! This week i got a new companion and we started working super hard from the very first minute together! His name is Elder Arnett and he is from Arizona. i think it's kinda weird to be able to have normal conversation with someone throughout the day in my native language. I hope i'm not forgetting how to talk to people haha. This week we found and taught 11 new investigators in 3 days which are crazy numbers in Gamboa!! I think a couple of these people have totally been prepared for us and will get baptized! I have learned this week that if you want success that you have to face twice as much rejection. This week more than any other time in my mission i have seen so many doors slammed but also we met so many people ready for our message! Lesson= work hard + face rejection= success!!! LETTER #15 . . . HELLO Y'ALL!

Hi Y'All! This week i was getting my haircut with a cool member and I let him taze me with this cool police taser and my bum hurt the whole haircut so that was cool! :/  The weather is starting to get a little bit warmer which is so cool but it's still cold and rains just about every day haha!  I think it's hard for me to learn Spanish because i am trying to learn Chilean Spanish from a comp that's from Ecuador that mixes in Creole and English and Ecuador slang in his sentences haha but i am figuring it out and my Spanish really is SLOWLY getting better!  This week was really happy and the work is getting a little bit better because I am making my comp walk instead of taking taxis everywhere and we have been meeting so many people!! We try to go somewhere cool every pday but it's always bad weather but hopefully soon i will have cool pictures to show you guys!!!  I sometimes wake up and work out and just start reading scriptures for a couple hour...

LETTER #6 . . . last letter from Mexico MTC . . GOODBYE MTC!

Hello everyone!  Goodbye to the MTC and to this awesome district!   I miss you all and hope everyone is happy and healthy! The MTC is so humbling and has helped me so much to become disciplined but also i am going crazy just sitting here all day!! I check into recepcion to leave this place at 3am Monday morning and have an 8 hour flight to Santiago. When we get to Santiago we have a 21 hour layover and i think will be sleeping in a hotel. After the layover we have a 1-2 hour flight to Osorno and i am not really sure what happens after that but i will keep you all updated.  Bobo with Anne and John Pingree from the Seventy . . . guest speakers at their devotional! This week was by far one of the most boring weeks but i seriously still loved it so much and i am learning so much!
