LETTER #24 . . . from one island to another!

Image
Hello!  We have cambios (transfers) this week so i will have a new companion and am getting moved to another island called Calbuco, which is an hour from the biggest city in our mission Puerto Montt! I think my comp is from Brazil but i will keep you updated!  I will let you know how it all goes! I hear he is a cool guy! With comp, Elder Arnett This week was kind of a frustrating week but it is a super good feeling to start to feel comfortable with the missionary work! Spanish is still hard but i am slowly getting better! I feel like i now know what everyone else is saying but i have a hard time speaking the language. Maybe I'll start learning a little Portuguese  now with my new companion haha? I feel like it's a little discouraging getting moved after all the work and time and effort we have put into these people and this city but i hope and pray that missionaries in another day get a reward for work that we put in! It doesn't matter to me who ends up...

LETTER #23 . . . No Time to Write . . Don't take life for granted!

Hello all, I do not have a lot of time to write but know that i love you all and am very happy and am praying for you all heaps. Here are some pictures from this week!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!! I LOVE YOU WITH MY WHOLE HEART AND I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU. I wrote you a letter and sent it in the mail!  Tell Spen i don't have time to write but i'll write him next week. Short story, this week one of the most humbling things of my whole life happened. Last night we were going door to door and weren't having much luck and we decided to knock one more door before the night ended. We knocked this door and this super skinny guy came out and we got talking and he told us that he is terminally ill and only has a little bit more time to live. It was so humbling for me and it was super cool to just look him in the eyes and tell him that there is something better coming!  Beautiful Chile! Don't take life for granted! Go serve! People are in worse situations than y...

LETTER #22 . . . Baptism of Miguel and Happy New Year!

Image
Baptism of Miguel, January 20 Hello everyone i miss all of you tons! Did you get my pictures?? Last week right after i wrote you we went to a store that is kinda like Harmons and randomly ran into a family from Pennsylvania which happened to be members of the church and are living in Santiago! It made my stomach drop when someone in an english accent said elders haha but it was very cool.  (the photo was posted on last week's blog entry!)   This week i had the cool opportunity to baptize this really cool kid named Miguel! He technically was taught all the lessons by the hermanas but i felt super lucky cause i have gotten to know him super well over the past couple months and he is my bud! It was super crazy cause i started to have memories come back from my own baptism and i was overcome with such a cool peace about being out here!! Eternal salvation is pretty cool and i'm glad i could have a part in helping people discover it. Miguel and Elder T takin' a self...

LETTER #21 . . . 'Tis the Season!!

Image
Hi All, Didn't really ever feel like Christmas but it was a very happy time in the mission and i am doing super good!! Christmas eve after i wrote you guys we went to downtown Castro and looked for people that looked lonely and met some funny drunks and some cool people. It's super humbling and cool to be here during this time of the year and i think that THE MISSION IS CHANGING ME!! Christmas day we got to talk to a family which was crazy and cool and then we went to the house of 2 American sailors that live in Castro and they made us steak and fries haha! Christmas with Americans!! Elder Arnett and Bobo on December 31, 2018 . . . people from home ran into them at the grocery store!   Our investigators that we thought were for sure going to be baptized are now moving to Brazil which makes me sad but that is ok because we will turn them over to Brazil missionaries! We have been coming across so many miracles and like every couple days we meet someone that is a membe...
