LETTER #16 . . . these short and long years!

Image
Hello everyone!!!  I wanted to start by saying happy thanksgiving and i hope you guys were super thankful this week!  With trainer and zone leaders in National Park This week was fun and i got my companion to go on a couple runs with me which makes me feel healthy again! Also we have been really trying hard to contact more people and we have a lot of new investigators and a lot of new contacts! ALSO we went to the national park Cucoa which was super pretty! Sorry that my letters are super boring but it's hard to talk about myself and the mission when i'm doing the same things every day and week and also i don't know who i am writing to right now!! But i do know everyone on my email list and if you ever read this know that i pray for you heaps!  Cool story . . . we were in a taxi and it had been a super long day with not much success. We saw these older ladies that were carrying these crazy big logs so we got out of the taxi and helped them and seriously ...

LETTER #15 . . . HELLO Y'ALL!

Image
Hi Y'All! This week i was getting my haircut with a cool member and I let him taze me with this cool police taser and my bum hurt the whole haircut so that was cool! :/  The weather is starting to get a little bit warmer which is so cool but it's still cold and rains just about every day haha!  I think it's hard for me to learn Spanish because i am trying to learn Chilean Spanish from a comp that's from Ecuador that mixes in Creole and English and Ecuador slang in his sentences haha but i am figuring it out and my Spanish really is SLOWLY getting better!  This week was really happy and the work is getting a little bit better because I am making my comp walk instead of taking taxis everywhere and we have been meeting so many people!! We try to go somewhere cool every pday but it's always bad weather but hopefully soon i will have cool pictures to show you guys!!!  I sometimes wake up and work out and just start reading scriptures for a couple hour...

LETTER #14 . . . Send Favorite Scriptures!

Hello everyone!  I don't know who is reading these letters at this point but if you are, thanks lots!! The mission is such a crazy and such a cool mental journey but i am learning so much! I literally have 2 years of my life dedicated to learning and studying and serving and teaching people and i am supposed to forget about just about everything else!! If you are debating serving a mission i promise that whatever fears you have about it are normal and i promise that there are 0 negative outcomes of serving!!!  Photo from September that someone posted on Facebook recently! Elder Towne and Elder Townsend :)  The work in Castro is kinda difficult as we don't have many investigators and we were in Puerto Varas for a couple days this last week because my comp had to get his wisdom teeth out! But when we are teaching and serving the time goes by super fast. This week we taught lessons in Spanish, English, and Creole and also tried communicating with people that only ...

LETTER #13 . . . Rain, rain and rain!

Image
Hello all,  This week was good and i am happy! It's so crazy because it really does just rain and rain here and then will all of the sudden be super sunny and then 20 minutes later it's raining really hard again! I think in my 3 months being on the mission i have seen rain close to everyday which can be a tiny bit depressing . . but it makes the sunny times much better!    We had a new transfer this week and I will be with Elder Guinansaca for another 6 weeks, so hopefully by the end of this cambio my Spanish will be proficient! I am no longer the new gringo which is awesome and i am no longer called on for every single prayer but i am still the kinda new gringo that just kinda understands Spanish (I am working on it!)! Not a ton happened this week other than we had to get on a bus to Puerto Mont which is a super cool and big city in Chile because my companion had to get his wisdom teeth scanned! Turns out we have to go back this Wednesday so that he...

LETTER #12 . . . TEMPLE DEDICATION

Hello all!!  This week was one of the most difficult but i am learning so much even through weeks like this! Also my friends are going on missions and this work is growing and it makes me so happy because everyone deserves a chance to hear this gospel!!!  This week was the Concepcion Temple Dedication and we went to all three sessions of the dedication because there were 6 different general authorities speaking throughout the 3 sessions (Pres. Nelson, Elder Stevenson, Bishop Causse and 3 members of the 70)!! President Nelson spoke and it's so cool to see how much a new temple that is still a 12 hour drive away impacts these peoples lives and they are so grateful for this gospel.  Every time a session of the dedication would end you would just hear people crying and the spirit was so strong!!  We are teaching a man that is Buddhist and in return for us to be able to teach him we get to go to his Buddhism classes which are super cool. i love learni...
