LETTER #28 . . . radio show opportunity and English class!

Sorry that i was not able to call you. I was shocked when i heard the new news by the church  honestly and  it will be interesting to see how this all plays out!!! We have Nokia phones that  can't call out of Chile and we write in  little computer shops without cameras.... I think this  news might benefit elders in the states and other places more haha. But i will be  happy to be  able  to talk to you guys:) This week we did something fun. There are 2 people we are teaching, one named Jose Luis and  the other named  Maikel and they are actually radio show hosts in Calbuco so we actually got to  be interviewed and got to talk about  our purpose here as missionaries and why we are out here!  It was super cool and now we are going to go every  week to read a scripture on the radio!!!!  I am teaching an english class in Calbuco every week and the passed we...

LETTER #27 . . . Baptism and haircut on Calbuco!

Hello family and friends!  SOY CALBUCANO. Calbuco is pretty and it's super warm here! I MISS YOU GUYS! This week we had a super cool experience . . my comp had the opportunity to baptize this little 9 year old boy named Santiago (he wanted a professional soccer player to baptize him) and right before the baptism we went outside to take pictures while he was all dressed up in his white baptism clothes and somehow we started to play a game of soccer in the grass in front of the church and the sun was going down and i looked at this kid just so happy dressed in all white kicking this soccer ball and i felt this overwhelming peace about being in the mission. It's weird, random little experiences like this one that make the mission soso worth it!  Also i hit 6 months this week which is super duper crazy. They say that you feel good with the language at 6 months and i still don't really know what "good with the language" means but i do feel confident enough t...

LETTER #26 . . . Mamita and Papita!

This is Britt's Mom, Mardi.  We never did get a letter from Britton last week.  The story is that he DID send a letter but it didn't come through until later.  Here is the letter we finally received . . .  Our branch is about 25 people and it's easily one of the biggest sectors in the mission which  is  crazy! There is so much potential for work that we can do here, i just don't know exactly  what to  do right now!  My comp is 23 and from Curitiba Brazil and kinda has a crazy story! It's been super cool to  meet  all these different people from different backgrounds and learn from them! We work  superduper  differently so it has kinda taken some time to get into the swing of things but we  are learning  lots! I feel sad that i missed the Superbowl but a member told me who won so don't worry! To  celebrate super bowl Sunday we taught the restoration a c...

LETTER #25 . . . new island, new comp and a Big Mac!

Hello!  Leaving Chiloe was sad times and i felt like crying saying bye to all the members! I have put so much work into that place so it was kinda sad to leave so fast! I am now on another Island called Calbuco with a Brazillian companion named Elder Nascimento and he has kinda a crazy story! He was actually a professional soccer player in Portugal and then broke his knee and had a come to Christ moment and now he is my comp on an island in southern Chile! Crazy town!  Elder Nascimento - new comp from Brazil We actually live in the house just behind our Mamita and Papito and they are actually not even members which is kinda crazy! They are a super cool family that offers us food for every meal and has been feeding the missionaries for 4 years (This was Easton Dickson's sector right before he went home) It will take a lot of strength to not gain weight this Cambio but i am going to do it!! I have made little signs reminding me to drink more water and eat healthy hah...
