LETTER #21 . . . 'Tis the Season!!
Hi All,
Before i talked to you on Christmas we ate a huge lunch with our Mamita and then after i talked to you guys we ate a big meal with our branch president (we were calling from his house) and then we went to an American couple named Newton and Paula and we ate a third meal with them haha! I felt super sick after but i am so grateful for the members here!!!! Hermana Paula gave me a Christmas present, a bombilla which is a straw for a special tea haha!
Didn't really ever feel like Christmas but it was a very happy time in the mission and i am doing super good!! Christmas eve after i wrote you guys we went to downtown Castro and looked for people that looked lonely and met some funny drunks and some cool people. It's super humbling and cool to be here during this time of the year and i think that THE MISSION IS CHANGING ME!! Christmas day we got to talk to a family which was crazy and cool and then we went to the house of 2 American sailors that live in Castro and they made us steak and fries haha! Christmas with Americans!!
| Elder Arnett and Bobo on December 31, 2018 . . . people from home ran into them at the grocery store! |
Our investigators that we thought were for sure going to be baptized are now moving to Brazil which makes me sad but that is ok because we will turn them over to Brazil missionaries! We have been coming across so many miracles and like every couple days we meet someone that is a member of the church but hasn't been to church in 20+ years! I think that most of my mission will be activating people rather than baptizing people!
This week was when i finally have felt myself be able to communicate myself in Spanish! I still am no where near fluent and i still have soo much to learn but i can feel like i can get my point across now! Also i can say a couple lines and words in Creole which is funny!
The mission is good and i am happy! LOVE YOU ALL! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! READ SCRIPTURES! PRAY!!
Love,
Elder Townsend
Excerpts from family letter . . .
FAMILY- HELLO I MISS YOU ALL HEAPS!!! FIRST, go listen to the Holland talk called "Abide in Me" because it talks about missionaries from the exact city that I'm in right now!!
| Two hermanas, Bobo and companion on Christmas day with Americans! |
Keep me updated on what happens with the 2 hour church and how that all plays out in Utah. Also has the winter been super mild?
We are going to hang with our branch president's family again for New Years but we have a 10 curfew haha!
We have tons of investigators right now but it is super hard to progress with people here!! (people can be a little prideful!) Me and my comp get along good, we are very different but we work hard and good together! He's not my trainer! Im out of training!
What did everybody get for Christmas??
