LETTER #4 from the MTC . . . 21 DAYS TO MAKE OR BREAK A HABIT!
Hello All,
We are finally over the hump and the mission is now a habit!
I miss you all and hope everything is well and i pray that you guys know how much i care about all of you.
This week was kinda awesome because Elder Bednar came to the MTC and talked to us all about being humble and loving the people that we have the opportunity to serve. He also said that the gospel is still being restored and that we need to ¨STAY TUNED¨ for this upcoming general conference for news and a lot of temple announcements.
The mission is so humbling and kinda a crazy experience that never really feels real. Sometimes i think i am just going to wake up and this was all a dream! I have literally learned so much and have become so much more disciplined in everything i do. Time is starting to speed up and weeks go by superduper quick and the days feel like weeks. my district, although we are all from super different lives all growing up, we are all here for the same purpose and we are kinda like a big, sometimes immature group of teens that treat each other like family and really really love this church.
This week my district started this game to make time go by quicker that we call ¨Becoming a man¨ and it is really the dumbest thing because we all just challenge each other to do gross and dumb stuff and everyone just throws up after but it gets our mind off the 16 hour work days hah!
In Mexico City the Mosquitoes are CRAZY and i am karate chopping them out of the sky all day long and that's keeping me in pretty good shape! :) Some how the bugs make it through the big rainstorms and somehow make it into our casas so every night we are just swinging at these bugs for a good 10 minutes but we still wake up with bites all over our bodies.
The MTC choir is fun and the spirit is strong when you are singing super loud about the Savior even if you have no idea what your singing about because it is all in Spanish!
This week we did TRC which is where they bring in local members from outside the walls that speak n0 english and we have to teach them a lesson! This started out as one of the scariest things i have ever done but right before we did it we had a lesson on 1 Corinthians 13 which talks about love and charity and going into TRC i had so much love for these people and i somehow understood everything he said and could easily communicate with him and it's things like this that make me love this gospel so much more. If you are reading this then i challenge you to just love everyone and everything that you are doing and interacting with in your life and you will be so much happier.
I am so very scared to leave the MTC and to go to Chile but the gift of tongues is real and before you know it i will be comfortable speaking a second language. The church is soso true, if you don't know it then you should read the Book Of Mormon sincerely. Read the scriptures, write in a journal, and pray and i promise your life will be better.
TE AMOOO!
Elder Townsend
